The different types of bodyboard tails:


The end of the bodyboard where the water exits form the board. The different tail types affect the stability and performance of a bodyboard. Following are the most common tail types:

Crescent Tail
Basically it resembles a tail with a semi-circle cut out. It was the first tail used on a bodyboard and is still popular till this day. The crescent tail is great for holding the waves as the tail tends not to release the wave, thus being popular with dropknee riders.

Bat Tail
Named due to its resemblance to a bats wingspan. The bat tail offer performance and maneuverability, thus is very popular with prone riders. There are many variations of the bat tails, some rounded whilst others finish at a point, but generally all have the same characteristics when being ridden.
